Al’s deep passion for craftsmanship in construction was fostered from an early age. The son of a skilled stone mason, young Al spent his weekends and school holidays under the tutelage of his father and local building firms. Here, he learnt not just practical skills, but also developed the aesthetic intuition that sets his work apart.

However, Al did not move straight into construction. First, he followed another passion, earning a degree in motorsport from Oxford Brookes University, and spending eleven years working for a variety of race teams. This experience put Al at the centre of an industry where elite performance, engineering, and design are seamlessly integrated – a standard he now brings to his work in construction.

It was the birth of this daughter that saw Al swap the pitstop for the building site. Wanting to create a family home, Al and his wife bought a Grade II listed stone cottage on the edge of the village, which required total renovation. It soon became apparent that Al had found his calling, doing much of the work himself, and he founded Al & Co. as soon as the cottage was completed. His reputation spread quickly, and word of mouth alone saw Al & Co. multiply in size and ability.

Today, Al & Co. continue to work on stunning homes around in the area, with Al managing projects, finding the most skilled tradesmen available, and working alongside the team himself to ensure each project runs smoothly and delivers the desired outcome. Key to Al & Co.’s continued success is the realisation that every house is a home, and deserves to be treated with the same care and attention that Al bought to the renovation of his own home all those years ago.
